Jim Jones has the experience to understand where Markham has been and the vision to know where it needs to go. He has supported the Sanatan Mandir Cultural Centre and our community for many years, and has been with us since the beginning. Jim was Ward 3 Councillor when we received the building permit and broke ground on our centre on Woodbine Avenue.

Jim has consistently shown respect for our community and a commitment to helping Markham grow as a diverse, inclusive and successful city. His experience, leadership and long-standing service to residents matter.

I am proud to support Jim Jones for Markham Regional Councillor.

I have known Jim for many years and have always admired his passion for city-building and public transportation. During his previous terms, Jim has been a creative and expert influencer on Markham and Regional Council. I especially support Jim's long-standing idea to bury the 407 hydro lines and welcome his new ideas like urban vertical farming and the multi-sports facility in Markham Centre. I am happy to endorse Jim's candidacy for Regional Councillor in 2022.

Jim Jones is a visionary. His detailed ideas that combine new housing/business communities integrated by a GTA-wide rail transit network are exactly what the GTA needs to solve its housing and traffic problems. His vision includes not only a new rail network along the 407 corridor but an integrated and updated GO system with destination hubs and housing at every intersection. And the best part of his vision is that he shows us a way to pay for it without raising taxes. The GTA needs more visionaries like Jim Jones.

We support Jim Jones 100%. We have known him for 35 years. We appreciate his leadership and representation throughout his time on Council. Jim went to all the Unionville Business Improvement Area (BIA) meetings when he was our Ward 3 Councillor and fought for us to get certain things accomplished on Main Street Unionville. Jim has played a vital role in making Markham the city it is today. We also share Jim's vision that a community that plays together, stays together.

His vision and plan for locating a major regional sports facility in Markham Centre around a major transit station is the correct location for such a facility. It will be next door to York University, the Pan Am Centre and Bill Crothers Sports Secondary High School. It will be one stop shopping for a family whose children play a variety of sports as many different sports will be located in the facility. As well, a Central Library will be incorporated. We are very excited about this world class sports complex and having Jim back on Council as our Regional Councillor.

I have always admired Jim’s principled stand in bringing people and parties together to work for common values. Jim unites people and he is a man of vision. Jim championed and chaired the Mainstreet Unionville Vision Study. I served with Jim on the UBIA Board and Visioning Committee. His transit network strategy of connecting all of the GO Transit lines and the 407 Transitway into a grid network ensures that we have a competitive GTA economy.

As a long time Markham resident, me and my sons have benefited from the sports facilities Jim has been a part of bringing to Markham. The world class sports park Jim is championing to be built in Markham Centre I am a huge supporter and fan of. Jim has done a fantastic job serving Markham’s residents for 31 years and has a comprehensive plan to bring us into the future. We need his experience on Council during these challenging times. I will be voting for Jim Jones once again in this municipal election.

I am writing this letter of endorsement in support of Regional Councillor Jim Jones who is running for re-election in Markham. Jim Jones is an active supporter of many ethno-faith and cultural communities and has been quite supportive to the Black community in York Region for many years. His annual donation to the Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association scholarship awards and programs has been instrumental in helping the organization to continue to serve families. He continues to demonstrate a commitment to initiatives which allow for a more sustainable, affordable, and inclusive Markham. I encourage voters to learn more about his platform which highlights many important issues, including eco-friendly solutions for agriculture and transportation.

Jim has a comprehensive plan to put Markham on the world stage. His plan addresses traffic, gridlock, the environment and affordable housing while embracing technology to save taxpayers dollars. His plan also will attract high tech jobs and build a world class sports facility.
